Psychotherapy Training Program: Student Clinic

Student Clinic

Many students are already working with clients as part of their current occupation (for example, as psychologists, counsellors, social workers) and can use this context to further their development and the integration of their professional and practical skills in psychotherapy. For other students who are not already involved in work in which they see clients for counselling or psychotherapy, SPIA is in the process of establishing a student clinic.

The clinic operates as a referral agency, making links with organisations that are in contact with people who would like to seek counselling or psychotherapy but are limited by a lack of financial resources. The clinic arranges psychotherapy referrals for those clients to appropriate SPIA students, all of whom are in weekly supervision of this work. These clients are seen for nominal fees.
