Psychotherapy Studies: Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements

Students may be accepted into the course from a range of backgrounds. Applications are welcomed from people who have tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as psychology, social work, medicine, nursing or counselling, or with equivalent work and life experience.

In order to be accepted into the programme, applicants must demonstrate a commitment to the process of training in psychotherapy and the personal qualities to enable them to practice effectively as a psychotherapist, as well as the necessary skills to engage in the course work effectively. This is assessed through a written application and attendance at an interview.

Applicants are also expected to have:

  • basic counselling skills
  • personal experience of counselling and/or psychotherapy
  • a base level knowledge of human lifespan development

There is an application fee of $180. This fee is refundable if your application is not successful.
